The Cookeville Police Department is taking it to the people to help them solve crimes.
Thursday, the police posted a piece of a surveillance video showing a woman allegedly stealing $900 in tools from a residence.
Less than 24 hours after the video was posted, officers posted a response thanking the community and saying the woman in the video had been identified.
“When all other avenues to find someone have been exhausted it makes sense to ask the people and what better way to do that than social media,” said Cookeville Police Major Carl Sells.
This isn’t the first time the Cookeville Police have gone to social media for the public’s assistance. Sells said when officers post photos and videos, they tend to get a quick response from the public.
