Gordonsville Earns First-Round Home Game In Playoffs After Beating Red Boiling Springs 43-6

The Gordonsville Tigers ended their regular season on a high note, beating district opponents Red Boiling Springs 43-6. They will be going into the playoffs second in their district, and will have a first-round home game.

Sophomore Tiger running back Braxton Givens had another game with over 100 yards rushing. He carried the ball ten times for 184 yards. Givens also had three touchdowns.

Tiger quarterback Adam Goolsby went 4-5 for 70 yards and threw two touchdowns. His touchdowns were to sophomore Bill Washer and to senior Jay Vaden; both for 31 yards. Vaden also had an interception that he returned 79 yards for a touchdown.

Red Boiling Springs’ only touchdown came from a pass that was tipped by Jay Vaden into the hands of sophomore receiver Joe Rose. Quarterback Justin Bergdorff rushed 13 times for 57 yards, and went 4-6 passing for 48 yards including the touchdown. Senior Bulldog running back Elijah Byfield rushed eight times for 24 yards.

Gordonsville will be hosting Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central for the first round of the playoffs next Friday.
