Non-Residential Voting Resolution Fails In Cookeville

A resolution that would have allowed outside city residents to vote in Cookeville municipal elections failed to pass at Thursday night’s city council meeting.

The proposed resolution would have allowed outside city residents to vote in city elections if they owned at least 5,000 square feet of property inside the city.

Council members Jim Woodford and Charles Womack voted no on the proposal, which needed four yes votes in order to pass. Council members Dwight Henry, Vice Mayor Larry Epps, and Mayor Ricky Shelton voted yes.
