Progressive Savings Bank named Gary Hicks the new CEO Thursday.
Hicks served as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer.
The change comes following the death of former CEO Steve Rains, who died suddenly Monday. Hicks said bank officials spoke privately with employees earlier this week.
“It’s a shock to anybody when you lose a friend suddenly and certainly that’s what Steve was, he wasn’t just our president he was our friend,” Hicks said.
In addition to Hicks assuming the role of CEO, Scott Edwards will become chairman of the bank’s board of directors. Moving forward is what Rains would want, Hicks said.
“He would want us to carry on and that’s really what we plan to do. He was very community-oriented, he loved his employee family and he loved his customers and that’s the tradition we’re going to honor and carry on,” Hicks said.
